Training
In additional to the diverse and informative training provided at the Annual Conference, IACT recommends other training courses to enhance the professional excellence of the membership.
Two in depth classes are offered at the Indiana University Center for Studies of Law in Action:
For alcohol testing, IACT recommends THE ALCOHOL AND HIGHWAY SAFETY COURSE. Offered twice a year at the University of Indiana's beautiful campus in Bloomington, the alcohol course is an excellent entry level or refresher course on alcohol testing and related issues. In 2001 the program also added a course on THE EFFECTS OF DRUGS ON HUMAN PERFORMANCE AND BEHAVIOR. The classes are collectively named the "Borkenstein Course" in honor of Professor Robert F. Borkenstein, the inventor of the Breathalyzer. Several of the faculty for the Borkenstein Course are also members of IACT.
